On August 12, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Interior Raises Gulf of America Revenue-Sharing Cap for Coastal States.” This increase will, “boost funding for coastal protections, restoration and infrastructure.”

On August 4, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Interior Department Announces $102.9 Million for Wetland Conservation Projects.”

On July 17, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Interior Department Revises Guidelines to Speed Up Plugging of Orphaned Oil and Gas Wells,” which has “updated its guidelines for states applying to federal programs aimed at cleaning up abandoned oil and gas wells. The revised guidance updates two federal grant programs, the $780 million Orphaned Wells State Matching Grant Program and the $1.93 billion Orphaned Wells State Formula Grant Program. The changes are meant to cut red tape and help states act faster.”

On July 3, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Secretary Burgum Launches Patriot Program Ahead of America’s 250th Birthday Kickoff.” “Through this program, the Department of the Interior will engage in a public-private partnership to invest $250 million in critical infrastructure, preservation and public access projects at iconic sites to restore America’s greatness. Every federal dollar invested in the Patriot Program will be matched by 50 percent in private funding or in-kind contributions leveraging philanthropic support to amplify impacts, increase efficiency, and maximize impact of taxpayer resources.”

On June 27, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Interior Announces Nearly $725 Million to Reclaim Abandoned Coal Mines.” “Twenty-two eligible states and the Navajo Nation will receive funding under this program, with grants based on historic coal production. States and tribes will lead project selection and oversee implementation, ensuring solutions are customized to local needs and conditions.”

On June 24, 2025, the agency issued a press release titled, “Interior Department Announces $644.8 Million in Payments to Support Vital Services in Communities.” This program will  provide funds to communities that support the nation’s public lands and waters; invests in firefighting, policing, education, and road construction.”On June 4, 2025, the department issued a press release titled, “Interior Announces Over $119 Million to Reclaim Abandoned Coal Mines,” related to the federal awards.

On February 3, 2025, the Department issued several orders to comply with Executive Order on “Unleashing American Energy.”
